Jolene Parker has been following her passion and fine tuning her skills for many years, a journey which took her through Makeup Artistry, Performing Arts and Hairdressing until she decided to spread her wings and venture overseas.

Jolene was quickly snapped up by Red Earth Melbourne and progressed through the retail ranks until she was promoted to the position of Flagship Store Manager in Sydney 18 months later. From here, Jolene became a part of the MAC team in their new Sydney concept store. “Event organising and workshops were my forte within my role as retail makeup artist with MAC”. It was during her time at MAC that Jolene worked on Australian Fashion Week on shows for the likes of Azolini Swimwear and One Teaspoon. In the same year she also worked on the Myer Fashion Show and the Myer Fashion Designer Awards.

Returning to Christchurch in 2006, with a vision to set up a new company and foster creative collaborations with the amazingly talented people in her community, Style Counsel was born. As creative director of Style Counsel, Jolene’s attention to detail, passion for her craft, enthusiasm and energy set the scene for a wonderful experience. Jolene tailors her sessions to encompass each individual clients needs and is flexible with time so as to achieve optimum results.

“Being creative is the essence of my being. Through my career I have swept floors, done makeup for celebrities, cut hair in kitchens, helped set up on one of the most beautiful cosmetic counters in the world, played with colour, made brides glow, placated stressed out designers, volunteered on student short films, painted 20 sets of fingers + toes in a row + co-ordinated events of every size. Each has been equally challenging + rewarding! The diversity of experience is what keeps me inspired”
